Alta Baja Market is a specialty grocery store, cafe and community space dedicated to celebrating the foods and crafts of California, Mexico and the American Southwest, combining the vibrancy of a specialty market with the inviting environment of a casual neighborhood eating spot.

Alta Baja Market offers breakfast and lunch from our cafe, the largest collections of Mexican wine in the country, curated spirits, craft beer, heirloom beans/corn/grains, chiles and spices, chocolates/treats, home goods, books and gifts!

We additionally host a number of events throughout the month. Activities include: cooking classes, workshops, lectures, demos, walking tours, pop-up dinners, book signings and more. Please check our calendar for details. Atla Baja also offers teaching and selling opportunities to local makers, an internship program for local youth and other community collaborations.

Alta Baja is proud to have one of the largest collections of Mexican wines in the US and now we can bring these wines to you with our Baja Wine Club! We review each shipment on Instagram, have a few reviews on YouTube and members receive a discounts and other benefits.

Wine club subscriptions come in 3 or 6-bottle packages four times a year.

EVENTS AND CATERING

Over the years, we have hosted a number of events. From weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, even theatrical performances in our store, our team is happy to host whatever you are thinking of.

Our parklet patio (pictured here) can accommodate up to 60 people seated while the inside of our market can seat 60 (if using the entire store). Give us a call or drop us an email — let’s plan something!

We are also happy to bring Alta Baja to you! Our catering menu specializes in breakfast, brunch or lunch items that’s perfect for work/office meetings, family gatherings or brunch parties. We also provide our famous pozole for groups of 20 to 200! Ask us for a catering menu and if there is something we haven’t covered, just let us know.

Our team has over 10 years of experience in event planning/production and have ran events from cooking classes for 5, a wedding (including decor) for over 100 to food festivals for 30,000 (no really, we have).

  • All catering orders that are under 40 people must have 48 hours notice. If the order is for more than 40 people, we must have a minimum of 1 weeks notice.

  • Payment: an invoice will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your order & we request a 50% deposit at that time. You can pay by check or credit card. Pricing doesn’t not include gratuity.

  • Catering trays typically serve 12 - 15 people or otherwise noted.

  • Breakfast & Lunch items served all day. Pick up times are typically 10AM-4PM; flexible upon request.

Alta Baja Market is located inside 4th Street Market on the corner of 4th St + Bush In Downtown Santa Ana.

From Los Angeles: take the 5 fwy south to Santa Ana Blvd (train station) and turn right., At N. Spurgeon turn left and go directly into the large parking structure.

From San Diego: take the 5 fwy north to Santa Ana Blvd (train station) and turn left heading to downtown, At N. Spurgeon turn left and go directly into the large parking structure.


Parking: if you are coming in for a quick stop there is metered parking on the street or you can access two large parking structures off 5th + N. Spurgeon.

The first hour is FREE in the parking structures.
